The first brownie I ever had didn’t come from a bakery.
It came from Little Debbie.
Yes, I’m talking about those perfect squares with rainbow chocolate chips and a nice mix of yellow 5 lake, yellow 6 lake, blue 1 lake, red 3, and a few other color-number combos disguised as food.
I would consider myself to have a colorful palette at this point in my life, but it doesn’t include ingesting chemicals for a snack-sized brownie.
I’ve put such things behind me since my Little Debbie days.
Nowadays, I prefer a brownie with a little more oomph in every bite.
Let’s say maybe 23g of protein, low sugar, and no ingredients you need to grab from a lab.
If that sounds like an upgrade to you, then you’ll love these protein brownies.
They’re not the kind of brownies you’re going to find on a store shelf, and that’s the point.
These are dense, chocolatey brownies for people who want a more grown-up take on an old-school favorite.
Some go back to Little Debbie brownies to feel good like they used to.
We come back to these brownies to feel good for years to come.
So shall we eat some delicious brownies without feeling like crap after? Let’s do it!
P.S. the Kimchi Fried Rice recipe will be added to the cookbook tomorrow.
